This short video clip shows a cab driver falling asleep at the wheel and getting into a violent crash. It's bad enough he's not wearing a seat belt, but the danger is compounded further because he is drowsy. According to the National Safety Council 1/3 of drivers admit to driving while sleepy.
The problem is so bad in South Korea that they have created a highway that "sings" to drivers in order to keep them awake. Click here to see the "Singing Highway" in action.
If you tend to doze off at the wheel, there's a product called NAP ALARM. It's a little device you place on your ear and if your head should nod, an alarm will go off, waking you and any sleeping passengers in the vehicle. I've yet to use it, but it's probably a good idea to keep this in the glove compartment. Search here for NAP ALARM.
Burglars Are Finding It Easier to Break Into Homes
Locking doors and windows is a simple way to keep your home secured. It sounds obvious, but according to the FBI, nearly 30 percent of burglaries in the United States during 2006 were no-force entries. Can you imagine a burglar waltzing into your home, ransanking the place and taking all your valuables because you didn't lock your doors and windows?! And with the holiday shopping season upon us there are lots of new electronics, jewelry, and other valuables that people bring into their home and burglars will want to get their hands on. But let's say do you lock your doors and windows, is there anything else you can do to make your home, safer? Well there might be a little device that fits the bill, and it cost under $10. It's a small gadget you can place on your windows that will either alert you of a break in or better yet...scare away the intruder.
It's called the Window Glass Breakage Alarm and here's how it works. Imagine you are sound asleep one night and suddenly a you hear glass breaking! A burglar is trying to break in. When this happens, The Window Glass Breakage Alarm immediately goes into action by emitting a LOUD 95 decibel alarm. That's about as loud as an airplane engine taking off! That will either (A)WAKE YOU UP and give you time to call the police, or (B) FRIGHTEN OFF THE BURGLAR.
Do you grasp the benefits of this product?
It's simple to install and for under $10 it's the smartest stocking stuffer you can buy this holiday season.
Order the Window Glass Breakage Alarm today and sleep easier knowing your home and your family have an extra layer of protection.

Fighting Words!
Before a fight there's a psychological war that fighters engage in. Trash talking. Trash talking creates somewhat of a back-story and adds to the excitement because one fighter will be proven wrong.
I've collected a few interesting quotes from the fighters who'll participate in this weekend's UFC 78 event. Have some fun with this and figure out who you think is the better trash talker.
Houston Alexander on his fight against Thiago Silva:
"I want it to end in the first round and I want it to end with a knockout. I plan to bring the thunder!"
"I'm going to win this fight by knockout. That's what the fans want to see, so that's what I'm gonna do. I'm going to knock Silva out."
Rashad Evans on his fight against Michael Bisping:
"I'm hungry. I want this fight. I want Bisping."
"Right now Bisping is on the menu, so that's what I have to focus on."
"This is my octagon...if you put me against anybody in the 205lbs weight class, you can expect them to get killed."
"Bisping is gonna catch hell at the sound of the bell..."
"I'm going to be looking across the octagon ...I'm going to be looking into his soul...and I'm gonna go out there and snatch it."
Karo Parisyan on his fight against Ryo Chonan:
"I ready to throw bombs on Ryo, perhaps a few throws...so get your cameras ready."
Chris Lytle on his fight against Thiago Alves:
"I've had a lot more fights, a lot more experience...I'm going to take him into deep waters and drown him."
Joe Lauzon on his fight against Jason Reinhardt:
"He hasn't fought the best competition. I'm used to fighting tougher guys, he's used to fighting guys that aren't going to give him trouble, that aren't going to give him a fight. Hand picked opponents. He's going down, he's going to get smashed."
"I'm going to pound him. He's gonna know he's in a fight...he's gonna leave looking like he's been in a fight."
Thiago Alves on his fight against Chris Lytle:
"I have 18 black belts training with me, so I'll be good on the ground."
Tamdan McCrory on his fight against Akihiro Gono:
"I’m expected to lose, so that’s only gonna make victory that much sweeter when I crack his head open and people go ‘wow, I guess there’s a new kid on the block.’ That’s what I’m looking for, another upset.”
Spencer Fisher on his fight against Frankie Edgar:
"I’m sure in the back of Frank’s mind, he knows he’s not going to go undefeated. Is this gonna be the fight that takes him out of that spot? I think so, but it’s a fight, so you never know.”
Frankie Edgar on his fight against Spencer Fisher:
"I’m not gonna change anything up, I just know I’m gonna be ready for it. He’s gonna be willing to go 15 minutes, and I’m gonna be willing to go 15 minutes as hard as I can as well, so we’ll be clashing it out in the middle of the Octagon, and I’ll go about it just like any other fight."
Thiago Silva on his fight against Houston Alexander:
"In eleven fights, I've had nine knockouts. This will be my tenth."
"Houston Alexander has knocked out two great guys, but he's spent less than two minutes in the octagon. With me, it's going to be a different story."
"I'm going in the octagon to have some fun and fight all three rounds. Let's see how his gas tank is."
"Houston Alexander hits very hard, but he's reckless and there's a lot of holes in his game."
Jason Reinhardt on his fight against Joe Lauzon:
"He was 12 years old when I started fighting."
Have I fought some tomato cans? Of course. Who hasn't? But what about his slap fights in Boston? I'd be embarrassed to count those on my record...where they don't allow you to punch to the face. At least all my fights have been closed fisted and true mixed martial arts fights."
Michael Bisping on his fight against Rashad Evans:
"I'm coming for you Rashad. I have the greatest of respect for you, you're a gentleman...but other than that...that's going out the window."
"May the best man win. Hopefully after this we can share a beer...loser buys drinks, so I'm going to leave my wallet at home."

MMA Matures as a Sport
Normally I don't like to write about MMA news. There are so many other sources for that. I'd rather share my thoughts on MMA from a personal point of view. But there are two recent developments in MMA that need to be shared because I feel they are an important progression to the sport. First, the UFC has created what they call, Fighter Development Meetings. The purpose of these meetings is to get the fighters acquainted with the business end of MMA. UFC will provide an informative forum for their fighters and discuss topics ranging from the problems of steriod use, fighter contracts, taxes and more. An informative and open communication channel between fighters and the organization is important to ensure everyone is content and in agreement. This is a wise decision for the UFC and its continued growth. It also helps avoid misunderstandings and conflicts such as the one that occurred between the UFC and Randy Couture.
The other development is the International Fight League (IFL) teaming up with YouTube and Google Ads. This partnership will give the IFL greater exposure and allow them to generate a revenue sharing model with these two powerful internet companies. MMA fans will have the benefit of watching entire IFL fights in a more organized format than currently presented on YouTube.
These developments, though untested, have the potential to create a firmer foothold for the sport. It's a step in the right direction for the fans, fighters and the businesses that support MMA.

Will Houston Alexander Continue to Clean House?
Yesterday Yahoo's homepage featured a story on Houston Alexander. Sure the article mentions the brutal beatdowns Alexander inflicted on Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara, but it also highlights his family life as a single dad of six kids. To Alexander, being a dad is a rewarding but tougher challenge than fighting. "You tell all those UFC fans, they come to my house and they'll see me pushing that vacuum," Houston says laughing. "I'm no different than they are. I have to clean the house, too."
Indeed, so far he's mopped the floor with the competition and we'll find out if he'll continue to "clean house" at UFC 78 when he faces his toughest challenge in undefeated (11-0) Thiago Silva.
High Speed Car Chases Go High Tech
The StarChase Pursuit Management System uses a compress-air laser-guided GPS/Cellular tracking system to keep tabs on vehicles during high speed pursuits. Launched from the front of a police cruiser, the unit will adhere itself to a suspect's vehicle with a type of epoxy resin. The police agencies involved can then track the suspect wherever there is cellular coverage and or GPS reception. Available early 2008. StarChase.org
Media Focusing on MMA Scandals
Lately there is so much drama in the world of MMA. There's Sean Sherk's steriod situation, fighters coming down with staph, Din Thomas arrested for staging illegal fights and so on. With the sport of MMA becoming more mainstream, it's expected that the media will cover its dark side. Even Time Magazine's online edition has covered the Randy Couture, UFC feud. However, MMA is not alone. Scandals and controversies will always be part of any major sport. There's a long list of athletes who have fallen from grace and the list of sporting scandals is endless. So for any aspiring MMA fighter, just be prepared and plan ahead. Battles don't just take place in the cage. To the victor, the spoils. But if you're fortunate enough to climb the ladder of success, expect the world to be watching.
